| Poppywood founder, Shelly Saunders, PhD has worked in the Information Technology industry for 20 years. For the past ten years she has specialized in web application development, e-commerce, web services and complex database and application integration. She has a BSc in Astrophysics, an MSc in Telecommunications Technology and a PhD in Software Engineering. She is a Chartered IT Professional and holds three patents. Before creating Poppywood she was the Lead Technical Architect for ACE, one of the world's leading global commercial property and casualty insurance and reinsurance organizations, where she led teams developing applications using IBM WebSphere and Microsoft.NET.
She has extensive knowledge of financial and insurance systems software and architectures and is an independent Consultant with the London Metal Exchange where she has developed Web 2.0 applications in .NET/jQuery for use on touchscreen devices by traders on the floor and is currently working on the Technical Architectures for a High Frequency Trading project, a Master Data Management solution, and is also developing a commodities market price application for iPhone, Android and Blackberry.
